If you've ever opened your car after it's been sitting in the sun for a few hours, you'll know just how hot a child's car seat can become.

That's exactly why I wanted to try this.

The cover is simple, but that's part of its appeal. It fits over the seat while the car is parked and helps keep direct sunlight off the fabric, meaning the seat isn't unbearably hot when it's time to set off.

As a parent, anything that makes getting the kids into the car a little less stressful is a win.

It's worth saying that this isn't a substitute for sensible hot weather precautions. I still open the doors to let the car cool down, make sure the air conditioning is running before setting off and never leave children unattended in the vehicle.

Used alongside those common-sense measures, though, it's a genuinely useful little accessory that makes summer journeys much more comfortable.

If you regularly park outside during the warmer months, I'd certainly recommend having one in the car.
